Zinc Iron Electroplating
The corrosion protection provided by normal zinc plating is enhanced considerably when alloyed with small quantities of iron, typically 0.6% of iron in deposit. This protection is further improved by the use of thick passivations and topcoats. Recent tests with iron forgings for a European OEM compared zinc iron with a thick film passivate and topcoat to zinc nickel plating. Our zinc iron actually met the salt spray requirements for the zinc nickel specifications.
RMF offers Zinc Iron for both barrel and rack plated parts.
