Our Finishing Processes - Tin Zinc Plating

Tin Zinc Plating Line | Roy Metal Finishing Company

Southeast Tin Zinc Applications

  • Electrical parts
  • Salt water components
  • Parts that require crimping

Tin Zinc Electroplating Advantages

  • Excellent ductibility
  • Excellent Solderability
  • Excellent Conductivity
  • Extremely high corrosion resistance to salt water and sulfur dioxide
  • Maintains high corrosion resistance even after hard crimping and bending
  • Can be safely applied to sensitive electronic components and glass to metal seals with no attack to the glass
  • Replacement for the toxic metal, Cadmium
  • Provides good protection on steel when in contact with Aluminum

Tin Zinc Plating

Our Tin Zinc line is computer automated using Cubex Controls technology. All parameters to successfully plate parts according to our customer specifications are controlled. All part numbers will have individual recipes and be entered using bar codes.

This line was installed to plate brake hose fittings for Toyota and RMF is approved by Chrysler to plate to the PS-8956 Tin Zinc specification and the General Motors GMW3200 specification.

The plating line has tight controls on the plating bath temperature and filtration systems. Each plating station has an individual rectifier for the optimum in plating thickness and alloy composition. The plating bath analysis for tin and zinc metal is maintained using an atomic absorption (AA) instrument in the lab.

A trivalent passivate is available. It meets the European Union ELV requirement which prohibits the use of hexavalent chromates.

Our zinc nickel deposits have excellent thermal and corrosion resistance, far superior to conventional zinc plating processes. Both barrel and rack plated production plated parts have consistently passed 250 hours to white rust and 1000 hours to red rust in numerous salt spray tests during the past year. All without the use of hexavalent chromates. Both clear and black trivalent passivates can be applied over zinc nickel.
